1. Information Systems is used by many companies in different ways for strategic purposes. This can create an advantage for the organization to one up their rivals. A company that uses information systems for strategic purposes would be Amazon. “Amazon utilizes specialized information systems in its business processes to attain competitive advantage through improved efficiency in the collection, storage, and analytics of their customers’ personal information.” (Washington Mutwiri). As Amazon collects this information it allows the customers to create a profile and personalize it how they see fit. “The Amazon transaction processing system is a key component of the Business Information System, which allows customers to make purchases securely and efficiently.”(Washington Mutwiri). With this strategy Amazon can one up their opponents and make the customer relationship that much better. With Amazons web server it gets everything from name address and payment type correct to allow the customer to track everything step by step. This is a huge advantage for the company as a whole. Overall Amazon uses Information Systems to make sure thousands of customers have a reliable and fast network system.
