Question 1: on-page summary.

Since you have covered advertising on Instagram with the Lynda.com tutorial, now you are ready to flex your creative muscle and try to create a social post, using visual and text. For this blog assignment, you must first download the app Canva (to your smart phone, tablet, or go directly to Canva website) or go to AdParlor and use some of the tools for creating a social media graphic or social media ad to practice your visual/content development skills. You can create a social media graphic or social media ad for any brand, small business, non-profit of your choice. Or you can create a “fictitious” business that doesn’t exist. The purpose of this assignment is to have some fun with these social media graphics tools that are easy to use. Sharing them on the blog entry with a short description of your social graphic or ad is a way to show the rest of the class what you created and to ask for peer critique.

Question 2: For this individual storyboard assignment, you will choose a goal that you have (Learn a new language, finish your degree, etc) and using the template provided on ulearn, map out six visual steps to reach that goal in the form of a story board. You will need to describe each “box” of the storyboard as you work towards your specific goal. This is excellent practice for understanding the foundational concepts of storytelling.

After reading the assigned readings and watching 2-3 videos from Yelp for Business Owners: Cases Studies, answer and submit Applied Learning questions that cover the chapter reading on geo-location, ratings and reviews and the impact Instagram and Yelp have on helping businesses interact with their customers.

Yelp can make or break a local business. How accurate are ratings and reviews on the website or the app? So some research into the real impact of Yelp, both positive and negative. Ask a local business owner in your area for some additional insight. Summarize their comments as a local business impacted by Yelp.

Search for a product on Amazon.com and read 3-4 reviews of the product. What is your opinion of the product reviews and how it may or may not influence your purchase decision?
