Gender is one of the most significant factors in human sexuality. Define the term gender identity and gender role and provide examples of each. Discuss the persons and institutions that influenced your gender role development and shaped who you are as a sexual being.

Gender Identity-to each individual is personal, subjective sense, of their gender. Gender identity is the personal sense of one’s own gender. Gender Identity can correlate with a person’s assigned sex at birth or can differ from it.

Example: An example is a boy could be born as a boy with all male organs but identifies as a girl and has all the femininities of a girl and wants to dress, look and feel of a girl such as the movie “A girl like me”. It’s how you feel inside and how you express your gender through. Clothing, behavior, and personal appearance. It’s a feeling that begin very early in life.

Gender Role- Sometimes call sex roles refers to a collection of attitudes and behaviors that are considered normal and appropriate in specific culture from people of a particular sex. Gender roles established gender related behaviors expectations that people are expected to fulfill. Gender means how we’re expected to act, speak, dress, groom and conduct ourselves based upon our assigned sex.

Example:girls and women are generally expected to dress in typically feminine ways and be polite, accommodating, and nurturing. Boys are not allowed to cry like a girl.

Extreme gender stereotypes are harmful because they don’t allow people to fully express themselves and their emotions. For example, it’s harmful to masculine folks to feel that they’re not allowed to cry or express sensitive emotions. And it’s harmful to feminine folks to feel that they’re not allowed to be independent, smart or assertive. Breaking down gender stereotypes allows everyone to be their best selves.

The Person and Institution that influenced my gender role development and shaped who Iam as a sexual being.

I have to give this award to my mother Clara Lee who has transition on Rest in Peace Mother, she was a beautiful Women that worked hard but keep her appearance up well. She took my sisters and I to the beauty salon to get our hair done and we wanted that all of us. She did her best with 3 girls and all tried to emulate her because if her beauty.

Institution that helped influenced was my High School and being a part of the band as a majorette who dance. This was one of the most feminine sexy, part of the band and you could not be shy as a majorette in a band because it was a lot of hip- shaken that got a lot of attention. This made me think I had beauty and poise thanks to my mother and the band.
