Johnson pretty much just took Kennedy’s New Frontier policies and made them his own. Much of what he gained was by way of a much more liberal lock down of Congress so it was easier for him to get his policies pushed through and passed. Some of that probably had to do with using Kennedy’s popularity and the end of his life as a sentimental lift for Kennedy’s policies. More to the central point of the post, the thing I remember most from the reading was that he involved America in covert and overt actions to undermine the governments in Central and South America as well as in Latin America. This went against the OAS Charter and undermined America in the eyes of its American neighbors. I think its been proven that America had done this countless times prior and has continued the practice well after. Can you think of any well known instances that we did this?
