Servant leadership principles emphasize facilitation and helping employees grow and harness their maximum potential, empowering both individual team members and the company to be successful. Persuasion,servant-leaders seek to convince others and build consensus within the group. Conceptualization is thinking of the outside of the now. Foresight, learning from the past, consider the reality of the present, and think of the consequences of upcoming decisions. Stewardship is defined as the ethic that embodies the responsible planning and management of resources. Commitment to the growth of people, deciding how you can do that best for each person on your team. Building Community,working together to accomplish a goal.The premise of servant leadership is that through serving others, one may be called to lead (Whitney, 2018). Two qualities of servant leadership supporting interprofessional communication in providing patient care are listening, and awareness. Servant leaders are able to listen intently and respectfully to their staff and act on the information they receive. For example, listening to staff member’s concerns regarding patient care. Awareness of yourself and others is a common trait of effective servant leaders. Understanding strengths, weaknesses and areas for development and support is crucial for maximising performance. This is extremely important because it will help improve patient care and outcomes.
